The antibiotics had helped Richie get clear of the forest, so to speak, but it had still taken another week for him to recover. Even then he wasn't quite back in top form, though of course he never complained. Kae could see it in the subtle signs.

He was well on his way to making a full come back, though. Even as she could see his stamina lacking, she could see it was also improving. So she'd agreed to let him start taking small jobs again, on the condition she do the same.

That had led to a small spat between them. One Kae ultimately won, with a small concession to keep his mind at ease. She would stay inside the station as much as possible, and only take external jobs to the next station on the line when she could travel with a guarded group. With both of them working again, they slowly replaced the clip of MGR that Kae had used to help pay for the medicine. All the while they were looking for an opportunity to travel to Polis.

Finally, fortune took a turn for the better. Kae was scouting jobs in the market one evening when she came across a trade party advertising for an extra gun to replace a guard that had quit, leaving them in a bad spot. She hung around briefly to ask a few questions before excusing herself to track down Richie.

"Sergei!" she called out when she finally spotted him in the crowd, giving a wave to draw his gaze to her.

Richie couldn't help the small smirk that curled the edge of his lips as he caught sight of his small companion. He lifted a hand to show that he heard her as he made his way over to her. "Hey baby," he said as he got to her and pulled her in close and dipping to give her a kiss. "I'm assuming a good day then?"

"There's a trade caravan looking for guards to finish the trip. I overheard some of the men talking. Apparently they're desperate to finish out the run. When I swung around to speak with them they even offered pay for help finding people to do the job."

"Sounds like our sort of caravan. Only concern is why they need just one extra gun but," he shrugged. "You going to tell me where? Maybe we can get on our way today."

"Sounded more like they thought they could make it with just one more," she answered, tucking into his side as they started walking back toward the market, "based on what I overheard they can across a tunnel breach and the watchmen hit them hard."

Richie looked down to her, his arm around her shoulders as they meandered toward the market. "One of the worst things to happen in the tunnels and seems to be getting worse and worse. Its like they are starting to collapse around us," he said out loud.

She acted like he was feeble but he simply nodded and pressed a kiss into the top of his head. "Well if this is as good as it sounds I'll be applying for the order by next week."
