"And they said the Rangers were the most discipline soldiers in Metro." Misha said as as the two argued, then stifled a moan from the pain in his body as the truck lurched forward, taking him partially with it due to inertia, and began to drive through the city.

"Most of us are," Ilia agreed humorously, "others not so much."

He waited for Novokov to reach something of a cruising speed before shifting his focus back to the man's wounds. It was difficult to work as they bounced on uneven streets, but Ilia was accustomed to adverse conditions and managed to work fairly quickly, "Take a breath," he warned before dousing the wounds with a splash of the high proof shroom vodka in his flask. It wasn't pleasant by any means, but worked as a disinfectant.

Misha grunted loudly when the vodka made contact with his wound, muttering out a soft 'son of a bitch' as Ilia cleaned his wounds. Soon after Misha closed his eyes, trying to ignore the whole situation and focused on the bouncing around of the truck as it continued through The Dead City.

The truck continued down the main street of the city, before coming to an intersection, normally the Rangers would have driven straight through, but soon, before either Joe or any of the other Rangers could react something large, and almost pitch black in color shot out at incredible speeds from the road on the right, hitting the side of the truck and sending it spinning before it smacked into some wrecked cars stopping them.

"What the fu-fuck was that!?" Misha stammered out when the truck stopped spinning. Before any of the Rangers could do anything, Misha grabbed his AK and pushed the side door of the truck open, determined to figure out what happened but when he opened the door there was nothing. No mutant, no car belonging to any of the factions that would scavenge from this part of Moscow. Nothing except for long abandoned cars and on the left hand side of the road was a large, almost completely rusted away banged up bus. It's seats still filled with the skeletons of its passengers.

"W...what hit us?" Misha asked, thinking maybe a demon had collided with a car trying to pick it up but nothing was flying in the skies either.

During the impact, Joe's position nearly on top of the truck in the gunner position had her thrown out of the truck. She hit a wall pretty hard as she groaned. She really, really fucking hated this place.

Her vision flashed black a few times as she moved to push herself up off the ground not hearing the vulture in the truck. "Ilia, Novokov," she said groggily as she used the wall to push herself onto her feet. "You guys okay?" she asked. She wiped the blood out of her eyes before she blinked a few times and lifted her weapon to her shoulder to focus her on her surroundings.

Unfortunately, the slam to the wall cracked her mask. "Gonna need the tape," she said.

Misha, getting more curious, decided to get out of the truck and look around and then limped forward to the front of the car before trying to get to the right side where it was impacted, noticing Joe on the way.

"Oh good, you're not dead." Misha muttered then went back to examining the car. There wasn't any damage to it, no bump, no dents, nothing. It was as if a strong gust of wind had hit it and nothing more.

"What the hell is going on with this place?...No way those damn stories are true..." Misha muttered to himself before looking at Joe's mask then leaning over back to the somewhat shocked Rangers.

"Hey--Guy's, we need some help here!" Misha shouted then went to one of the pouches on his plate carrier and pulling out a thin roll of blue tape.

"Catch" He ordered then quickly tossed it at Joe.

Ilia had been fumbling with the bandages when the impact occurred. One moment they were bouncing along the rough roads, and in the next everything was turning. Then everything went black.

When he blinked back into awareness, it was to the sight of a pair of booted feet disappearing through a warped door. Ilia groaned, lying still at first. He drew in a slow breath, feeling a sharp pang in his left side - damaged ribs, no doubt. For a moment he gathered himself, slowly flexing his arms and legs. There were a few aches and pains, but his side was the worst of it. Each breath sent a dagger of white hot pain lancing through his torso.

"Blyat," he muttered as he shifted to begin dragging himself out into the open. He heard Joe's voice somewhere nearby, though wasn't sure what she'd said.

Once out he winced and ground his teeth, clutching at his side, "You alright, Novakov?" he asked thickly. When there was no immediate answer he raised his voice as much as he dared, "Novakov!"

Hearing the screaming from the car, Misha gestured to Joe to come with him as he made his way back to the truck's side door.

"What the hell is going on in there, Ilia?!" Misha shouted out as he looked inside.

Joe didn't catch the tape. She was still bleary eyed so it thunked to the ground as she looked to it to see what it was. She closed her eyes. It was like everything was moving in half time. It even took a moment to hear the screaming of Novikoff from the vehicle. She wasn't even sure it was real at that moment. The crack in her mask should have been more pressing to her but she heard Ilia.

"Nerd," she said. "Are you okay?" she asked as she bumped into her smaller companion.

Ilia ignored Misha as he moved around the overturned vehicle, coming to the drivers door where Novokov was alternatively yelling and groaning in pain.

"I'm fine," he grunted to Joe, ignoring her as he reached for the door handle and attempted to wrench it open. The warped metal groaned, but didn't budge while the Ranger inside alternated between expressions of pain, and choking attempts to stifle his own voice.

"You, help!" he barked to Misha as he griped the handle tighter, bracing his boot against the side to try and drag the door open.

Misha nodded and sighed.

"Alright, hold on Ranger we'll get you out..." Misha muttered and grabbed the door before gesturing to Joe to help him with it.

"Ok, one, two three, pull!" Misha order.

Joe was still on the other side of the truck. She saw some other shadow which made her blink. Lack of oxygen is what she was thinking right then. She needed the tape. She had hit her head hard enough that her head was bleeding down over her ear. The adrenaline, at least for the moment, was keeping other injuries at bay.

Ilia was doing something with the vulture and then it was like bang, the ringing in her ears started to subside and things started to clear up. "Fuck... Fuck... Fuck. Fuck a duck in a truck. We need to get out of here," she said as she moved around the truck.

Novokov was still screaming. "We gotta go," she shoved Ilia and the vulture. "No, stop, he's dead. Lets go," she shouted at them as she shoved her nerdy boyfriend away from the door forcefully. "Go, go, go," she said. "Do not stop for anything," she advised the smaller Ranger.

Misha did as ordered, not liking how much of a sitting duck they were in this part of the city anyway. Limping along with the two Rangers he finally spoke up ones they were a decent distance from the wrecked truck.

"What's the plan now?" He asked, looking around for any mutants when his watch beeped, the group stopped for a brief moment as Misha took his backpack off, unzipped it and pulled out a new filter and screwed it into his gas mask.

"I only got three left...you guys?" He asked zipping his back pack back up and sliding it on to his back.

Joe was starting to wheeze as she looked out of her cracked mask toward her wrist. "Enough," she responded as she finally slowed enough to swing her pack in front of her and grabbed the tape attached to the side. She pulled it off and taped the crack to be sure it stopped leaking. She looked around seemingly disoriented.

"Need you to shut up," she said to the guy. "This is the worst place to be stranded and I need to think," she said looking to Ilia. "Do you have one of your maps?" she asked him as she turned him enough to get into his pack and hand him one of his filters and grabbed another for herself.

Misha sighed and somewhat shook his head, but internally agreed with Joe and kept his mouth shut. He did crouch down slightly and keep his AK at the ready. While he did not believe in the rumors of ghosts in this part of Moscow he was still worried about more worldly threats such as a Demon swooping down on them or a pack of watchman coming by.

Ilia twisted with the motion as Joe turned him, letting her zip his pack open, "Black binder," he said, referring to the worn, leather bound tactical padfolio he carried everywhere.

Once Joe had passed it over his shoulder, Ilia flipped it open and retrieved the weathered surface map he carried, "I've also got this," he produced a folded piece of paper with a hand drawn map labeled "Dead City". He'd bought it off a scavenger a while back, mostly out of curiosity. At the time the man had said something about not being willing to ever go there again. Ilia hadn't paid too much mind, though, "Can't speak for its accuracy, but it may help."
